Photo: Swift River Reservation: Davis Tract Swift River Reservation: Davis TractGlen Valley Road, Petersham, MA Two lovely hikes, one to the Swift River, one to a climb and a wonderful vista. Description:The Davis Tract of the Swift River Reservation offers two lovely hikes from a parking area that was once a gravel pit. A short way from the parking area, the trails to the right are the ends of a loop that includes, after a moderately steep climb, a spot with a wonderful vista. The trail to the left, an abandoned town road, leads to another loop, the northern section of which lies along the East Branch of the Swift River. Stone supports are all that remain of an early 19th-century bridge, washed away in the 1938 hurricane. The vista trail is about 1½ miles long, the river trail 2 miles long. (Also visit the other sections of the Swift River Reservation, the Nichewaug Tract and the Slab City Tract.) Directions:From Rte. 2, take Exit 17, Rte. 32. Drive south through Petersham center to the 32/122 intersection. Continue south for 3.3 miles. Turn right on Nichewaug Rd., which becomes Glen Valley Rd. Go 0.4 miles to entrance on right. Contact:
