As always Rays wood turnings are created from local trees that have died or had to be taken down out of necessity. He never cuts down live trees for the sake of obtaining wood. Many of his turnings feature and retain the natural defects of the wood [worm holes, bark inclusions, voids] as a reminder of the rugged nature and resiliancy of trees.
