Shirley Lewis

Shirley Lewis has been creating her quilted items for almost 20 years. Since her retirement in 1990, Shirley has dedicated herself to designing and sewing full time. Shirley is self-taught and comes from a rich heritage of self-made artisans. Both her mother and grandmother were sewers and passed the passion on to her.

Shirley loves combining colors and materials to design and create beautiful quilts, jackets, and table runners. She enjoys incorporating historic and Americana themes into her work, as well as vintage and historic reproduction fabrics. Shirley has made Civil War, Revolutionary War, Declaration of Independence, and American Bald Eagle themed quilts. Her quilts are lovingly tied and machine stitched, with traditional patterns. However, her artistic use of color makes each one unique.

Originally from Needham, Shirley has made the North Quabbin region home for two decades. She cites the clean air and lack of traffic as what she likes best about the area. Shirley's quilted creations have been sold at the Garlic & Arts Festival in Orange, the Barre Farmer's Market, and at her studio. Shirley accepts custom requests.
